I am certain we all know the quote “nobody goes to the grave saying they wished they had spent more hours at work” but still lots of us feel the need to spend more and more hours away from family and people we love in favour of work.
We would seem to be adopting a “coat on seat” culture where it is important for our superiors to see our overcoat on our chair when they arrive at their desk, and it is still there when they leave. We must be enthusiastic to be working so many hours. In actual fact these hours are probably not all industrious. If we are most concerned to be seen to be doing something, we may not actually be doing anything valuable.
When you add the many hours spent travelling to and from their work and it is really not unexpected that people are worn out. They are very likely spending half of each week day either at work or getting there, which does not leave an awful lot of time to enjoy with family and friends. As the weekend comes around all they want to do is sleep and relax.
In this situation, family life can suffer. Wives are losing out on quality time together and can think they are losing the support they require. Youngsters are aware that there is no time to drive them to clubs or for treats, and consider they are missing out. It seems a no-win situation for everyone.
Have you considered whether your work/life balance be enhanced if you were to Work From Home? Think of the gains this could bring to your life. There have always been opportunities to Work From Home, but recently there has been a growth in this market. With greater|better|increased[/spin] use of the Internet Business is booming and with it opportunities for Online Jobs, which do not require a commute to the office, are growing.
At times when we are so busy, we do not have the chance to sit back and analyse our lives, the way we are living them, and what we really want to achieve. We need funds to pay the bills. Our career gives us the means to do this, and as long as everything is progressing well, we carry on as we are even though we know deep down that our health and personal life are affected for the good of work.
Over the past year many people have been made redundant as the recession affected companies both large and small, and this has enabled people who would never have seriously thought about Online Jobs in the past are now thinking that a job in the Internet Business may be the way forward.
The chance to Work From Home would immediately cut a few hours a day from the working week, without essentially spending any fewer hours working. The time saved may mean you are not so tired and therefore your friends and loved ones will be able to spend more time with you and you will become more calm.
Redundancy may now be your buddy as it gives you the break you needed and the option to become self employed, in charge of your own working future, working in a growing market – the Internet Business, and with none other than yourself to answer to in your daily working life.
