You know the concept! You are travelling on public transport and the most dreadful person it has ever been your misfortune to meet is sat next to you, desperate to tell you their whole life history. Why? Just because you are sat there! They could talk a glass eye to sleep and have come to the conclusion today is your “lucky” day. You smile, look shocked, give little responses, after all nothing more is necessary, you are their captive audience, and you wish you could be anywhere else but there.
If, however, you are blessed with the fortune to have a portable pc, you can get this out, smile politely and tell your co-passenger that you really need to get some work done prior to a meeting you need to attend, or at the end of the day, work you must attend to on because you have been in meetings all day. They will, usually, leave you to it.
There will however be the odd drunken traveller who thinks you must be fed up, having to work when on your journey, and will decide it is their task to enrich the experience for you, but on balance it is better than no laptop at all. If you Work From Home, it may well be that you must travel to meet clients, and those hours spent journeying could be perfect for getting work finished, in relative peace and quiet. There are no doubt many Online Jobs which you can catch up with while you ride on the train, perhaps not on a bus or a plane, but other tasks could be done, in readiness for internet connection at the other end of the ride.
Work From Home does not in reality have to mean you are working from your home all the time, it just means that you are not travelling to an office or business premises every day. An Internet Business could let you work from practically anywhere, so long journeys could be seen as something of a benefit – you are sat down, you are not driving, you can spend this time totally concentrating on the job in hand. When you get where you are going, you feel you have realized something worthwhile during the journey.
