Formal classroom learning has a lot of advantages when it comes to learning. The approach may be slower but they are well detailed, thought out and prepares the learner to the subtleties of the language.

For one thing, there is no simple memorization of words, or memorization of phrases. The student is actually taught the conjugations, the verbs, the nouns, etc. and they are taught how to construct the sentences properly. Not only is that, the students exposed to language and the culture as well. Learning the background of a language will only make the learner appreciate the language more and if the student learns to appreciate they eventually learn to love the language, which will make the learning easier and faster.

The only thing that a lot of people find difficult with learning in the classroom is the time, travel, and the costs. If the learning was hampered by the conflicting schedules between work and school, then the learner will most definitely choose work above the learning. The costs are also a main concern, unless the learner has enough money to pay for school and take time off from work, then they can finish their education faster. But is it turns out to be more expensive then the potential student would have to make some decisions again. Travelling to school is another factor which can be costly and may disrupt the time spent from work in order to go to school. Online learning on the other hand, offers more opportunities for the student. Not only is it less costly, but they have independence and they have flexibility in terms of travel and time. The student can actually work during the day and study in the comforts of their homes without worries that they will be missing out on some lessons if they cannot go online.

Online tutorials and schools can offer the same things as those in a formal classroom, the only difference is that they are not as in depth as the formal education. However, there are now online schools which actually offer academic approaches to learning Spanish where they offer exactly the same things as those in schools. They are a little stricter compared to the ordinary classes, but they still offer the same flexibility to their students.

One must remember that everyone is different and learning is different for everyone. What may work for one may not work for another. The only advice is to try out the online learning and see if it works, if not, then try out the formal classroom. The learning will depend on the individual as it is common knowledge that both settings work well and have taught millions of people to speak Spanish.
